The Annual tent collecting following V-FESTIVAL Weston Park, organised by
the Rotary club of Brewood and District took place again on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st August 2012.
The collection saw a tremendous effort by nearly 500 volunteers from a variety of different organisations
and charities all led by Rotary International.
This is the 7th year in succession that the Rotary Club of Brewood and District has organised this event helping overseas aid. It does not involve any fundraising, but involves peoples’ time, commitment
and endeavour.
It also helps reduce landfill by re-cycling the discarded tents and equipment for worldwide humanitarian aid.
Rotary clubs from from afar as Ludlow and Leek got involved, indeed over 50 Rotary clubs had a presence over the two days. There was great help from the Market Drayton club, who provided the lorry loaders, and the usual helpers from the Lions and Scout organisations were also there.
Both the 40 tonne lorry and the large van were sent to International Aid in Preston full of tents, sleeping bags, roll mats, chairs, wellies and other camping gear. Huge thanks go to all involved over the two sunny days.
